The Kannapolis community is proud of its legacy as Dale Earnhardt’s hometown and proud, too, of its rich racing heritage.
Since Dale’s tragic death at the Daytona 500 in 2001, thousands of fans continue to come here to remember him and to learn about his life. For that reason, we created The Dale Trail™ to help visitors find their way around, and to show how Dale and his family’s lives are imprinted on these streets and in surrounding areas.
This blog is an extension of The Dale Trail – a place to celebrate Dale, his family, and the motorsports heritage of North Carolina. Here we can delve deeper into the history of the area, hear one-of-a-kind stories from locals who have lived the history of the area, and share experiences with visitors who have had unique experiences on The Dale Trail.
When traveling The Dale Trail, you may run into local residents who are more than willing to share their memories of him with you. This blog is yet another opportunity for people to share those memories and keep them alive.
