  1. Before there was Dale Earnhardt, in NASCAR.. I would pull for a driver or so, but never one time did I know that when Dale Earnhardt came into racing, as they had drivers intoductions. He was introduced as Dale Earnhardt from Kannapolis N.C. Dale Earnhardt put that little cotton mill town on the map.
i will tell you now he deserves all the credit he can get from North Carolina. His Mother Martha, desrves to be able to know that they will not take things down without warning her. Dale’s Trail should stay right where it is, as well as new flags. I careless if the President of The United States, comes to that little place over there. Noone other than his family knows what he did for others. He made racing, he could talk and NASCAR would listen. he loved his family, fans, crew, car owner and whoa is to me the gifted children.
Dale was just not a NASCAR Driver, this man worked on farms, before you could even get up and report a story. I have witnessed Dale, playing baseball one year for charity events, also basketball the next year. Then it became where NASCAR wanted the drivers to attend their luncheons. Dale Earnhardt, was all about helping others and people can’t even wash the flags? No this is about trying to get Dale out of NASCAR already and replace him with another driver.. It will not work, if you really knew this one man he impacted so many lives it is unreal. Today he is still missed by his wife, mother, sons, daughters, fans, drivers, children as well as the elderly. He is truly the role model. My heart goes out to you Marha C. Earnhardt and all other family members.

  2. I live close to a Speedway, that had signs on bill boards that had Dale’s pictures, leading some to the track.
I noticed that his year they all have been taken down. They were not faded at all, could there be another excuse?
One good ole day, North Carolina, will use The Dale Trail for something else. But in all reality I wanted to correct my mistake up above to Martha C. Earnhardt.
Things like this really get me upset at times, just seeing what I have seen happen already.

  3. Hi,

I am not a big Earnhardt fan, but what I have read about the flags being taken down and the promises to use $25,000 in this years budget towards the Dale tribute is upsetting. I think using the money to finalize the tribute is great, but no where in your county budget does it mention upkeep or future development to the tribute. The budget only states final development on the Dale Earnhardt Plaza. When you say final, it has me concerned as if this money is to just a peace offering with hopes people will forget. Earnhardt was too good of a man to forget about him and what he stood for in life. You said in your letter to the Earnhardt fan that you did not pay for the flags. So what! I truely feel if your county officials cared as much as you say about
Earnhardt’s hertiage, then the flags should never have reached the stag of dirty and torn. The pride to display these flags should have kept them replaced with new ones or with repairs over the last years. Besides, was taking them down the only option? As stated in your Earnhardt fan letter, Martha Stewart’s visit was in the planning stages for several months. You mean to tell me that new flags could not have been purchased to replace the old ones or repairs made to the old ones. I am sure the towns people would have greatly appreciated the chance to clean and repair the flags before having them taken down. Even if the final outcome was to have the flags removed, surely in the several months of planning for Mrs. Stewart’s visit some other marker could have been used as a replacement. Given a chance you would be surprised what citizens and fans would do for a loved one.
